Green Pool Cleanup in Lathrop, CA

We bring algae-filled pools back to clear, swimmable water, working in partnership with Nevergreen Pools.

Vintage Pool Service turns green, neglected pools in Lathrop back into clean, balanced water you can swim in, handling the algae treatment, debris removal, filter work, and rebalancing in one coordinated recovery. Whether the pool went green over a long weekend or sat untouched for a year, there is a clear path back.

Call us if you cannot see the bottom of the deep end, if the water has a green, yellow, or brown tint, if the walls feel slimy when you touch them, if you notice a swampy or musty smell near the water, if leaves and debris have settled into a layer on the floor, if mosquitoes or frogs have moved in, if you just bought a home with a pool nobody has cared for, or if you already tried shocking it and the color came right back.

This cleanup service is provided in partnership with Nevergreen Pools, using Nevergreen's California license, CSLB #1066482, with our team based out of Manteca. Tell us about your pool through the form on this page, or phone our office, and we will plan the recovery with you.

How a Green Pool Comes Back

Pouring in shock without a plan usually wastes product and money. A recovery starts with a look at the entire pool: how much debris is on the floor, how heavy the algae growth is, what condition the filter is in, and whether the pump and other equipment are running correctly. Equipment that is not circulating the water properly is often the reason the pool turned in the first place, and it needs to be addressed for the cleanup to hold.

From there, we remove the bulk of the debris, treat the water to kill the algae, brush the walls and floor, and run the filtration hard while the dead algae is pulled out of the water. The filter gets cleaned as often as needed during the process, since it fills up quickly during a recovery. If we find equipment that needs repair, you get a written quote and a straight recommendation on repair versus replacement before any of that work begins. Once the water is clear and balanced, the same team checks back to confirm it is holding.

Central Valley conditions make green pools common. On summer days over 100 degrees, which happen often from June through September, chlorine can disappear in a matter of hours, and algae grows fastest in warm water. Wind, pollen, cottonwood fluff, and heavy fall leaves add organic material that feeds that growth. In winter, rain and cool, foggy weeks keep pools closed and out of sight, so chemistry drifts until the water turns. Older plaster pools with aging equipment and newer pools with salt systems can both go green, and each recovers a little differently.

Recovery work includes:

  • Debris removal from the floor, steps, and skimmer
  • Algae treatment and full water rebalancing
  • Brushing and vacuuming of all surfaces
  • Filter cleaning during and after the recovery
  • Equipment checks and repairs where needed
  • Transition to weekly service to keep the pool clear

From Murky to Ready for Swimming

At the end of a recovery, you have water you can see through to the drain, clean walls and floor, a working filter, and chemistry that is back in range. The pool goes from an eyesore and a source of worry to something the family actually wants to use again, often within a matter of days depending on how far it had gone.

Leaving a green pool alone tends to make everything harder. Algae spreads quickly in warm water and can work into the pores of plaster, leaving stains that take extra effort to lift. Decaying leaves and debris on the floor lower water quality further and feed more growth. Standing green water also attracts mosquitoes, which becomes a problem for your household and your neighbors. The longer a pool sits, the more product, labor, and filter work it takes to bring it back.

Once the pool is clear, the best way to protect your investment is regular care. Many homeowners move straight onto our Essential or Complete weekly package after a cleanup, with chemicals charged separately based on use, so the water never gets the chance to turn again. You are not required to sign up for weekly service, but we will explain what it takes to keep the pool clear either way.

Every recovery is different, so we talk with you about what we see and what to expect before we begin. That way you know the steps involved and roughly how long it will take to get the water back.
